I give.

Truly, all I wanted to do was help, give, maybe give a little inspiration.
I know I'm not perfect.
I know I'm not a great body type.
I thought I had developed a thick skin over the years.
But, I haven't.
So, I am taking a break.
Messages are harsh. People are harsh.
I've come to realize that typing here doesn't help anything lately.
So, I am going to step away.
I will just do me.
Without the 'chirp chirp' or whatever.
Maybe I'm just not meant for social media anymore.
Laters taters.

I have no delusions of what I look like.
Believe me, I have never, ever thought I was any kind of beauty.
But hey, my husband tells me he thinks I'm pretty, and that's all I ask for.
However, I try to play myself up a bit  when we leave the house.

And the inevitable is happening...
wrinkles!!
Partially, okay more than partially, it's my fault.
I have never really had any sort of skin care regimen. I wash my face with the pump hand soap. I have only just begun using a face cream. I don't drink enough water.
The list goes on and on.
So, I'm going to try and do some maintenance.
Of course, I read all of these articles about lemon juice or baking soda or tumeric masks.
I'm willing to give them a whirl, especially since I always have all of these ingredients in my house.
I at least want a couple of more years until my face begins melting from my skull.

But even then, I will still rock my freaking lipstick.

Protein Overnight Oats: Lemon Blueberry Chocolate

Sometimes, I want something a little different than my eggs and oats.
Sometimes, I have to run out the door in the morning and don't have time to cook.
Overnight protein oats are perfect!

1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 cup blueberries
1 container of Osage Greek Yogurt
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 packet Stevia in the Raw
Juice of 1 small meyer lemon
About 1/3 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (You can also use water)

Mix it all together.
Put it in the fridge.
In the morning, pull it out and enjoy or throw a lid on it and go!

Workout Journals and It's Freaking Frigid!

I wanted to give you a little sample of my workout log. If I'm not in training or under coach's guidance, I like to keep track of my workouts. This year, I'm using my daily planner. I'm using the monthly calendar at the beginning of each month to actually mark my appointments, and these pages to log my workouts, inspirational quotes, and other little notes.
It's a fun idea to keep you on track and motivated.

In other news, I think you can tell by my face in the picture this morning at the gym that I am just about tired of this below zero stuff in the mornings. This is the first year that I EVER remember having to wear sweatshirts and jackets DURING my workouts. It's flippin' frigid!!
Ugh!

As you can see, I am a hot mess. I didn't do my hair, any sort of anything. I'm lucky I got my arse out of the warm house and the seven miles uphill to the gym.
Yes, I am ready for a little warm for sure.

~*~Side Note~*~
I like to keep this blog separate from my writing blog.
However, I will let you know that I have posted the first three chapters from my last two books there.
Warning: They are smutty, filled with oodles of kink and adult situations, but if you'd like to peek:

Beauty

This popped up today on my memories on Facebook.
Sometimes, we forget.
Sometimes, we don't even consider it.
Sometimes, I'm surprised that I even have these introspective thoughts.

Everyone has their own perception of what they consider "beauty." Keep in mind that this idea is your own opinion, and everyone else may not share that impression. With that thought, please don't bash and be negative of those YOU do not necessarily find attractive. Remember that everyone has feelings.

Soup's On)

I am still fighting crud.
I get better, then the cough comes back.
Oh well.
I have still been going to the gym and trying to eat on track.

I was seriously craving some soup this week.
I had a two pound bag of carrots, some jalapenos, and other staples, so I figured I would give it a whirl. I really don't have a spot on recipe for you, and I encourage you to play with it.
I have found similar ones online, so peruse and play!

I peeled my carrots and put them on a roasting pan along with a huge jalapeno, two little gold potatoes (seriously each were golf ball size), and some garlic cloves. I drizzled them with olive oil and sprinkled them with a little sea salt and pepper.
I popped them in a 375 oven and let them go. I checked on them and flipped everything once.
I just kept doing little checks until it was all tender with some nice char marks.

After that, I threw some water in a big pot, added cayenne pepper, ground ginger, a little bit of chili powder and some yellow curry powder. I brought that to a simmer and threw all of the veg in. I threw in the whole jalapeno, seeds and all, but do as you like according to your spicy level.
I only let it simmer about 10 minutes then transferred it to my blender to begin the puree cycle. I had to add in more liquid. I chose to add in my unsweetened almond milk to make it creamy without the dairy which would just cause more mucus accumulation and production.
Afterwards, I poured it back in the pot and just put it on low to warm back up.

Honestly, it was quite yum, healthy and looked beautiful too.
I didn't take a picture, but it was spot on to this:

And by the way, their recipe looks great too.

7.2 Away

I know the scale doesn't matter.
Really, I do, however, I was about 20 pounds over my competing weight.
I was really happy and comfortable keeping myself around 110+/- a pound or two.
I have not been on the scale in probably a month.
The last time I stepped on, I was 122 and some change.

This morning, I dared to drop trou and tip-toe on that baby.
I was actually surprised to see that I was at 117.2 pounds.
Surprised and super happy.
I think it has motivated me to kick it up...as soon as I'm not hacking up a lung, lol.
I have resumed my workouts this week, but have been keeping it light.

On a side note.
Super funky leggings make me happy.

I was lucky this holiday. The husband gifted me with some new fun workout leggings...
Be prepared for the pictures to start!

I am a spaz

Did you know that you could pull a muscle in your back coughing?
Yep, you sure can!
Though, we are better, I'm not 100% yet.
The other night, I got a coughing attack, one of those coughs that is from deep in the chest, annoying as all get out. I just couldn't stop, kind of like when I get a crazy sneeze fest.
Well, from all of that deep coughing, I pulled a muscle high on my back right on the rib cage.
If that isn't spastic, I don't know what is!

Today was my first day back to the gym since before Christmas.
Since my nose is still a runny mess, and I have a residual cough, I kept my workout light.
I had to drag myself there.
Not going for two weeks has made me lazy and unmotivated.
But I went.

I also did some food prep yesterday.
I'm introducing those lovely green vegetables back into my life too.
Time to get myself back to healthy nutrition, and hopefully, have a sickness free rest of the year.

It's not a biscuit, but it will do...

I'm a southern girl. I love biscuits, and let's face it, biscuits just aren't a common food in this lifestyle.
I decided to experiment with our staple, common breakfast ingredients.
What happened this morning wasn't a biscuit, but it will do for a breakfast sandwich.
It would have been extra rocking had I split a slice of cheese between the two and slathered it with butter, but ya know.

Here comes the recipe:

For the "bread"
1/2 old fashioned oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutritional yeast
sprinkle of sea salt and pink pepper corn
1/2 cup liquid egg whites
2 tsp unsweetened almond milk
4 sprays of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray

Grind the oats, baking powder, nutritional yeast, and salt in pepper in a coffee grinder until it's a flour consistency.

In a bowl pour your 1/2 c of liquid egg whites, 2 tsp unsweetened almond milk, and mix in the 'flour' mixture. I squirted it with 4 pumps of my spray butter.

Pour into two silicone muffin cups or cupcake pan that's sprayed with olive oil.

I throw these in my pre-heated toaster oven. I actually leave it on the toast setting for 20 minutes.
When I take them out, they looked like this:

I then took my one whole egg and another 1/4 of liquid egg whites and scrambled them with a little sea salt and pepper, and built little sandwiches. I did add a spray of 'butter' to each side of the muffins. I think I will continue to experiment with this, but it made me feel like I was eating a breakfast sandwich with no guilt!

Protein Pancakes and Panty Shots

I thought I would begin with breakfast.
Makes sense, no?
It is how we should start our day, healthy and satisfied.
Pretty much five to six days a week I eat some variation of oats and eggs.
This may sound boring, but if you get creative, you can make different meals from these simple ingredients. In 2014, I may have eaten pancakes just about every morning of that year.
This morning, I did one of those recipes.
Normally, I eat one whole egg, 4 egg whites, 1/2 cup oats.
This is what I produced this morning using those ingredients, however, I did use liquid egg whites.
The Safeway by us carries their brand of liquid egg whites for $3.99 a large carton as opposed to other brands that I see at $5.99 and $6.99.
I saved my whole egg to be scrambled on the side.

This breakfast recipe is for the pancakes:

1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 packet stevia in the raw
3/4 cup liquid egg whites

Put 1/2 c oats, baking powder, cinnamon & stevia in a coffee grinder. Pulse until ground into a flour. Mix together with the egg whites. Then, cook just as you would a pancake in a heated pan.

Simple as that.

You can top these with honey, agave, syrup, a little spray butter or what ever your heart desires. There's a super simple homemade fruit spread that I make that I love to use on top of these too. That recipe will be coming soon.

So, I promised you new pics, holding nothing back so you could see where I am right now after a year of not being disciplined.
Remember I warned you.
Oh and that door leads outside which is why I have those by the bottom crack. It's been below zero here, and I'm trying to keep in heat any which way I can, lol!
I know that I am not in the greatest shape presently, no need for pointing out the areas...cuz believe me I know they are there.
If you click them, they enlarge...not that you want that.
*drum roll*

Shall we begin?
Here's to improving me, and you improving you!
