So, Sundays are now my Saturdays and Mondays are my Sundays.

I still am figuring out how I want to get to the gym the other days of the week or if I may just put in some home workouts.

Today, I'm trying to make a bunch of easy eat meals and snacks to bring with me to work.  We are constantly working for the 8 hours, hardly stopping at all and never sitting.  I'm working on making little meals that I can eat standing and without too much hoopla.

Oh the irony! ~ back into the working world

So, I've been working out, eating right, getting healthy!  So how did I wind up in this lucky place?

I have been working randomly from home for the past four years.  I do not enjoy my job, but it was convenient.  For poops and giggles, I applied for a job that I saw on Craiglist about a week ago.  This past Thursday, I received a call to come in for an interview this past Friday.  Well, lo and behold, I got it! (on a probationary trial, of course)

What is the job you ask?

Well, it is a Baker/Pastry Assistant!
Yes, dream of dreams come true!
And the even better part?  They are going to train me and move me on up that latter.
Excitement!
I never thought that I would even stand a chance considering all of these people with professional pastry experience who have gone to all of the fancy culinary schools.
Of course, I will be starting at the very bottom, doing dishes, decorating cookies and other tasks, but I will be surrounded by YUM!!

I start tomorrow morning.

We'll see how my waistline fares.  Will definitely be making changes to my workout times and schedule.

Yesterday was a big deal for me at the gym.  I got out of the "girly" dumbbells for my upper body workout!
Oh yeah!

I'm getting into the big boy sizes & I'm feeling this great sense of satisfaction about it.

Grateful

A friend from back home shared a link to a family there with a unique child.  Their son has an extremely rare disease that causes him to blister with the slightest touch, and he is almost always in excrutiating pain.  There was a link to their blog and the story of their daily struggle.

Through it all, they are remaining so optimistic among all this pain and negativity.

I am not one for prayers, but they definitely have mine.  Also, their story has made me ever more grateful for all that I do have in my life.  If you think that you are having a tough life, read about theirs.

FUN PHOTO TIME
= me being all conceited

Well, he sent me a few more of the fun dress up day we had.
The first is another lovely hat from Kitty Mae Millinery
Actually the husband bought me a super fun, sparkle-y fascinator from her this Sunday at our last show.

In this next one, I definitely see where people get that I remind them of Betty Boop!

Gardening

Well, not quite yet, but let me tell you, the past few days have been such a gorgeous tease that I am super ready to get to gardening!
We are planning such wonderful things this year!
Hopefully all will work out.
I will definitely have to take before and after photos as we toil away.

I saw this cookbook reviewed in my latest Clean Eating Magazine.
I immediately went to the library website that searches all of the libraries in our county.
No luck, so I ordered it used from Amazon.  I'm hoping to incorporate more meatless meals into our diet.  I am especially interested in using more varied veggies since we are going to be growing many things that we cannot get at our local grocer.

I have been getting excellent at making our own yogurt every week.
Next adventures: making cheese and making vinegar!

Oh, and I'm super excited because I got an email today from Tosca answering my questions on rabbit and other meats!  Yay

My Bloody Valentine

That should sum it up.  It's still my bloody day after Valentine's but I put on that big diaper looking pad, to protect when the other thing-a-ma-gig got full up and walked to the gym.  I really, really did not want to go.  I used my pedometer on my nano for tracking my walk to and from the gym. I used my nike + for my short 2 mile run on the treadmill.  At least I did something, right?

So, now that you know that, you should not be surprised that I have been craving sugar like that is absolutely no tomorrow.  So, I have been loving this site
Mmmmmmmmmmm

Then, today's Groupon hit my inbox.
Are you serious?!
I am trying my hardest not to pull out my credit card and buy it, but, but
it's cheese!!!

And I leave you with me looking "ecstatic" before my workout this morning.

Smooth radio voice!

I have the honor of being a part of this local event, Krewe of Baloo: the 5th Annual Mardi Gras Charity Ball & Parade. at the Oriental Theater on March 5th.

Not only that, but I've also been invited to promote the event with some of the Krew Of Baloo crewe at the local radio station Krew de Louisianne Radio1190AM in Boulder!  We are going to talk and pick some music to play as well.  I am sooo excited!  It will be at the end of the month.  I cannot wait!!

I'm starting to love the gym, wow

I think that I am seriously beginning to love the gym.  I had always heard people say that and never quite understood that.  The past two days, I was basically stuck at home and had to do a bootcamp video.  When I woke up this morning and knew that I could hit the gym, well, I was excited!

I started with a quick run : 12 min., 1.04 miles with inclines alternating between 0.5 and 2.5

Lower Body Day

Split Squats: 1, 15lb dumbbells, 3/12
Plie Squats: 1/12, (1) 35lb dumbbell, 2/12, (1) 40lb dumbbell
Seated Leg Press: 145lbs, 3/12
Seated Leg Curl: 40lbs, 2/12 then 30lbs, 1/12
Seated Leg Extension: 40lbs, 1/12, then 35lbs, 1/12, then 30lbs, 1/12

Ended with some stretching

I decided to add a booty shot so you can see what I'm dealing with.  See V8grrl, I don't think we could ever wear the same size pants.  I have bubble butt.  I knew that it is going to take my bottom half much longer to get into better shape than my top half.  I'm ok with that because the more it stops jiggling, the better I feel and the better it looks even if it is pronounced.

Just one of those mornings, but I'm turning it around.

Today started off early as I had to bring the husband to the airport.
So, I decided to hit the gym afterwards at 5:30am instead of my usual 7:00am.  First off, it was intimidating because the place was packed!  Usually when I go, I see my handful of usual folks.  We all say "Hi", "Good Morning", etc.  When I walked in this morning, it felt like the whole place paused to check out the new comer.  Weird.  Do I do that unconsciously too?
I headed straight to the weights because I knew that I could grab those and wait on a tread mill or elliptical to free up.  Dudes were sitting with their weights talking, then talking to the chicks... Everyone kept taking those glances at me, sort of like I was invading their territory.
I felt as though I should maybe lift my leg and pee on the cable machine.
Finally, I got over it and just did my thing.  I was snickering a little on the inside because these chicks were all with the 3lb & 5lb dumbbells, did maybe 3 exercises and walked around. (They were looking all cute in their tiny shorts and tanks though.  I will one day do that! ~jealous, I am~)
I have to quit being all intimidated, dammit.
I did forget my workout journal because I keep my food log and workout log in the same notebook.  I have to quit doing that.  So, here was my workout for today - what I remember:

Upper Body:

3/12 - 35lbs cable pull, oblique pull
3/12 - 15lbs, then 10lbs last set, cable tricep kickback
3/12 - 20lbs, then 15lbs last set, cable, chest flys
3/12 - 20lb barbell, bicep curls
3/10 - 20lb barbell, overhead press
3/10 - 15lb dumbbell, overhead tricep extension
3/10- 8lb dumbbells, lateral raises

15 min. cardio
stretching
Oh yeah, when I went back to the locker room to saddle up for some running, I realized I forgot the darn sensor at the house.  So, I tried out the pedometer on my nano and just did some interval sprinting on higher inclines.

I have had one of those crazy mornings, but I was determined to turn it around.
So, that was done, came home and vacuumed.  Made me some egg whites, a bowl of oatmeal with a banana and cinnamon and some decaf coffee with dark chocolate almond milk.
I have the milk in the crockpot now cooling so that I can finish making the Lazy Yogurt.
I have a feeling that I may make some carrot soup later too.

I am completely not feeling like doing actual work.  I am in a mood to purge and organize in the house.
I have to get rid of this sense of attachment to clothes.  I have so many things that I keep saying, "Oooh one day I will fit into that again."  Unfortunatey, I do not think it will happen.  If for no other reason than my body shape is changing as I work out.  Though my butt is looking much better, it has changed and pants are just, well, tighter.  My ba dinky, dink is turning into a ba dunka dunk, I guess.

Plus, my crafty supplies are just crazy.  They need to be straightened out and organized.
Speaking of which, Sam got me a new sewing box!  Clearance at JoAnn's!!
I have a sewing box that I have had since 4th grade.  I still use it, but I definitely could use another.
It's spacious!  And I just love the way it looks.

I Love the 80s

You know, we were watching I <3 the 80s.  It brings back such awesome memories.  Then, the hubby and I started talking.  It seems that kids today have no fear.  I mean, so much from the 80s was so political and reflective of what was going on then.  We both agreed that we had this fear that we could be nuked at any time.  Remember the Soviet Union?  So scary to us.  Of course, I mentioned the Soviet Union to a younger person, and they actually asked, "What's the Soviet Union?"  Really?!

Do you remember this video?  Genesis making one of the most creepy videos of all of the 80s.
Plus, we noticed how many of those people are now dead.
Am I the only person who found this scary?

The there was the movie, The Day After.

It was a made for TV movie dealing with the US being nuked and the aftermath in Kansas.
I was traumatized by this in 1983.

Then there was the mother of all fear inducing movies, Red Dawn.

Oh how I completely was petrified of the impending invasion of the Commies.

I guess my point is that even with everything going on in the world, even though the aftermath of 9/11 is a little farther away, but still recent, kids today do not seem to have that feeling of doom hanging over their heads.  They fear nothing... of course, many do not seem to care about much either.

On to the fun stuff.

Weren't they the consummate style of the early 80s?  Look at that rockin' makeup and hair!

Then there were these rockin' babes, whom I still freakin' adore!

Since V8grrl brought up bringing back the tube top, it's got me feeling the early 80's and late 70s.  I may have to revert for a while.  I'm feeling like loads of eyeliner, red lipstick and horizontal lines of blush...
Rock on!

Now, for the boring gym update.

Today:
3/12 - split squats, 2 - 12.5lb dumbbells
3/12 - plie squates, 35lb dumbell
3/12 - seated leg press, 145lbs
3/12 - hamstring curl, 30lbs
3/12 - quad extensions, 35lbs
Cardio circuits
Stretching

fun, fun, fun

She's on a mission to make 2011 ~ The Year of the Tube Top!
I'm already excited with anticipation to go on a hunt for a sequinned 70's number.
If all else fails, I'm headed to the fabric store for stretch sequin fabric, the more tacky, colorful the better!

Today's Gym Report
Well, today was cardio.  I hitched on my Nike +ipod and ran, ran so far awaaaayy.  Unfortunately, my little buddy only recorded a 0.98 mile run.  When I tried to recalibrate, well, it only let me choose up to 1.33 miles.  The treadmill clocked 2.25 miles.  Needless to say, I was bummed out.  I've collected about 8 miles that are not sent over to the site for my 211 miles in 2011 with all the little problems since I got my nano touch screen for Christmas.
I'm thinking that my sensor is going kaput.  So, for Valentine's Day I asked for a new sensor.  Now, I'll have to get the hubby something... or just put out.

Oh large thighs, will you ever reduce with the rest of my body?

Lastly, I had a blast this past weekend doing a photo shoot with my friends, Norman Dillon and his wife Susan who owns Kitty Mae Millinery & Acessories .  It was fun to play dress up and get pictures taken.  Here's a sneak peak of one pic.  The bow is from her wedding line, the Clara.  Get it? Clara Bow? hehe
The dress is one I nabbed at the thrift store for $5.  All in all, we did four dress changes.  I'm excited to see more.  P.s. - my eyes are not that color ;)  I wish, but mine are blue.

Grrrrrr

Yeah, that look on my face?  It's because I weighed myself at the gym, and the scale says that I weigh more than when I started back in August.  Even worse?  It says two pounds more than when I weighed myself on Saturday.   Grrrrrrrrrrr

So, I ran my two miles then kicked out an upper body weight routine.  Time to kick this up a notch.
I'm going to try and get to exercising six days, at least cardio six days and weights 2x to 3x a week.
Bugger

Even sadder?  I haven't even been having my cocktails!
I say pooh, and I'm having a cocktail tonight.
