Chuggin' along & along & along

So, I have been exercising more than ever and eating clean with exceptionally few mishaps. I say that because I know that I will not be perfect, especially this soon into the venture. Unfortunately, the weight hasn't been budging. I do believe, though, that I have lost 2 pounds this week... finally. It is very discouraging when you are so conscious of trying to eat clean and putting in the work and nothing moves. It's been three weeks, and this is the first little budge on the scale. It has been hard too. Just this morning when dropping off El Sammy Beasto at work, he stopped to pick up a dozen mixed donuts to bring in. That smell was killing me. I resisted though and did not partake of the sugary goodness that made my mouth water. I truly think that the meds (hormones) the doctor has me on for this temporary time is making it harder to lose the weight. Darn it. In fact, I bought new, bigger pants and just a week after buying them, they even seem snug.

I did sign up for Scream Scram . It's a 5k walk/run at the end of October. It should be fun. I will probably be running it alone. That's cool because yeeeaaaarrrsss ago when I was an active runner, I used to run a 5k or 10k every month and do it alone. Even though, I am slow in the beginning of learning to run again I do remember why I loved it so much. I helps release a ton of stress and worries.

So far this week, I have
Mon. - run/walk 2.15 miles, then walked another 2
Tues. - run/walk 2.79 miles
Wed. - walk 3.78 miles, then an hour of hot power fusion yoga sculpt (includes dumbbells) & is super hard and makes me sore, in the good way
Thurs. - rest
Fri. (today) - hoping to get in a weight routine - then off to valet for Lucha wrestling!

I want to add more weight training days, still figuring this all out. As the title says, I'm still chuggin along, only improving every day!

Goodies!!

I decided that in this transition juncture I needed new jeans. You see, I only fit in one pair of jeans/pants besides stretchy yoga pants right now. I had received a $10 off at Kohl's so I walked my happy butt up there and tried on about 15 pairs of jeans. Finally! I found some petite dark trouser jeans and a pair of petite gray/black/red jeans, yes, plaid denim! They are wicked cool & I am ecstatic that I fit into something that I don't hurt bending in! By the way, there are now two types of petite pants, and I found that one is actually a tad too short for me. I never would have thought that I would say that. The ones I got were Dockers 6PM, never thought I would buy Dockers either, but what can I say, they are adorable!


Speaking of wicked things, El Sammy Beasto came home last night with goodies for me! He stopped at the grocery - yes, he always pleases me with fun things from the grocery store. First was a bouquet of mixed flowers. =)

Then, how awesome?! Movie Monster dinner wares! They are made from 50% bamboo too!


Then, a cute little crazy, special bat bowl!



And for my girlie side, and one of my favorite food groups, a cupcake apron!


The thing is we use our Halloween stuff all year long. We even leave out many indoor decorations all year long, we're THOSE type of people, lol!

Food journals, food, exercise & Halloween Housewares

You know what? Keeping a food journal is harder than it seems. Every morning, I start off fine, but by afternoon I slack. Maybe I should try taking a picture with my cell phone to keep track so that I can always go back and write it down?

Speaking of food, Oxygen has a bunch of wonderful comfort foods tweaked to be clean in the newest issue. You can bet that I will be trying some out, especially the Chicken Parmigiana and the mac n cheese! You can check out other recipes here. Good news for vegetarians and vegans, they have been tweaking recipes to be veggie & vegan and even devoting menu plans to that as well, and in the Eat Clean Diet books as well!

And found the quickest, easiest way to make oatmeal thanks to Tosca Reno's Eat Clean book. I always put on a tea kettle in the morning for my Celestial Seasonings peppermint herbal tea. So, what you do is you put 1/2 oats in a bowl, pour the boiling water over it and stick a plate on top. It sits for about 10 minutes while you are doing all of your other stuff and voila! Cooked oats, no pot or anything. I usually throw in fresh berries (frozen if fresh isn't available) or some chopped banana and tablespoon of all natural nut butter! Yum!

I have been exercising, but am still trying to make a plan of what I want to do on what days. I am really loving running/walking and working up to longer periods actually in the jogging stage, YaaY! I have only been doing yoga one day a week. I just have to figure out how to work my schedule to fit in my Jackie/Jillian dvd's so that I'm not unable to walk the next day or on a day before a rest day would be ideal. I may actually do my runs in the morning and then try to fit in a video or weight routine afterward or in the evening. Just still playing on what will work best for me.

Now, on for fun stuff!

Last Friday, I went to a sleepover. Yes, 37 and to a burlesque girls sleep over! I thought that I had prepared myself armed with 2 bottles of organic wine, a huge veggie tray hummus, and I made some eat clean chocoloate almond biscotti. However, my will did not last. There was gorging on yummy sleep over food, mixed drinks, karaoke and dancing. I did have enough sense to bring a liter of water and had quit drinking early and just drank water - I did not however quit the eating. Needless to say, there was no sleeping and at 4:15am I just went home to sleep my two hours in my bed. It was tons of fun, I felt like a teenager again. Awesome sauce!

Tar-jay has been putting out their Halloween stuff, double YaaY! I LOVE this throwback vintage thing that they are doing! I am tempted to buy these table runners. But me? Well, I leave Halloween stuff out all year long, and these would be out A LOT!


These are plastic place mats, but oh so cute!



And these paper decorations remind me of the ones that we had taped up in our windows when I was a wee little ghoulie!


Ahhh, my most favorite time of the year! And I bought a huge bag of the Autumn Harvest candy corns! So NOT clean! But I have been eating way less than a package serving size when I do indulge... Yes, I want to add candy corn and peeps to my cupcake tattoo at some point.

And so it has begun

I did pretty well getting into exercise mode. Now, it's time to work on the food. I'm keeping a daily journal of what I'm eating. I'm also logging it into the Eat Clean Diet site, you know for that $3000 I'm gonna win. ;) But something that Bitch Cakes always blogs about is that if I don't want to journal it, I probably shouldn't be eating it.



Here is my handy dandy kitchen scale to that I can make sure that I'm not over doing the portions of my meats and even of the other good stuff that I am eating.



Here's an example of the common breakfast: two boiled egg whites, one whole egg, oatmeal with fresh berries, either black coffee or herbal tea and 8 oz of ice water.


Maybe I'll start putting up a weekly little blurb about the exercise that I have completed for the week too.
