Fitness, fun, presents!

I have been reading about this and eyeing it up for a while. Tonight, my hubby got me the Nike + ipod kit. It's a sensor for your shoe and a wireless connection for your ipod Nano - it helps track and such of your running.

Now this in & of itself can be humorous because I have not jogged in years! But, hey it's super motivation to get going more! http://www.apple.com/ipod/nike/run.html
So, when I received this, I ordered a pouch type thingy to put the sensor in since I do not own the crazy expensive made for Nike shoes. Let's get my pudgy butt moving peeps...

Fun Food & new Blog Love

~sidebar~ I'm not a vegetarian. I used to be, even went vegan for a period of time. I'm debating switching back again.
I had this weird need for "pigs" in a blanket. So in my weirdo style, I decided to make some "grown-up" ( & veggie) style! I made Sam some with brats, mixed cheeses and spicy brown mustard wrapped in Pilsbury Crescent Rolls. For myself, I made one with soyrizo sausage and one with Field Roast Apple Sage "sausage", sans the cheese, but with spicy brown mustard. Hey, I know it wasn't very healthy, but they were quite yummy!

While on the subject of food...
I have come across hungry hungry hippie. It's cute and has simple foods that look pretty yum too! I have also been inspired by some recipes on Happy Herbivore.

Small Steps

my 6 yr. old Volatile shoes that I ~heart~, my skull equipment bag, with some
equipment on top too, my backpack, kind of emptied, and my stool with books stacked
on top, underneath, and piles of flashcards - this is why things cannot stay
too tidy!

So I did do it Monday, my 5 mile walk home carrying my 30lb backpack. Yeah, my bum, hip, thigh area was sore the next day, even the arms. =) Today, I played good girl on our snow day and shoveled our drive and walks then did my elderly neighbor's too. I kept pretending I was doing squats when I was lifting those shovel-fuls. I made some cookie dough for our class bake sale tomorrow - it's in the fridge now. Then I did 2 loads of laundry and am prepping some grub for tonight.

I guess I should go and actually do some studying. We lucked out because our diagnostics exam was supposed to be today = reprieve!

Spring Fever

taken in Frisco last weekend.

With our floppity, flop weather, the days that it is like spring I get all antsy. I've put on more than my fair share of winter weight too, just a side bar.
But on the days of beauty, like today, I want to embark on my "I want to hike across the country with R dog. How do I get sponsors?" bandwagon. Hahaha.

This weather is just too lovely. If the weather doesn't flop again, I'm thinking of walking home from school tomorrow. It's a start.

3-19-2010 -- Goodbye Sweet Monkey Boy

I had to take him to the vet. It seemed the adrenal tumor ruptured and caused internal bleeding. His little back monkey feet were swollen and he was having muscle tremors and whimpering. Before they took him back, he gave me kisses on my cheek. You were wonderful sweet Morocco, and brought much joy to our lives. Your sidekick Booper is already distraught over your disappearance.

Morocco, not wanting to have his picture snapped... I forced him.

One from when he was cuddled up in our bed. He loved tunneling in our blankets at night.

Sputum Bowl... Warning Geekdom-ness

It's like Jeopardy, but for respiratory therapists and students. Yeah, geekdom at its absolute best! A few of us first years may bite the bullet and participate in May at the CRSC conference in Breckinridge. A three day conference extravaganza of, from what we hear, lectures, drinking, and yes, oh yes, a 70's Disco Costume Party one night. Did I mention drinking and partaying? Yeah, we have all discussed bringing ice chests of booze & food and unlocking all the rooms that connect to make a sloppy fiesta. Maybe this is what I missed by actually not participating in the college experience, so let's make it up as slightly, um older, adults!

The best part is that the school pays half of everything, including our rooms and fees. So, this should be very, very interesting. We also are having bake sales at the school to try and raise more cash to cover more of our costs.

My dear husband printed my 92 page review bank of questions from various categories... Should I do it? I'm leaning toward it, but I am slightly intimidated by competing with those who are a year ahead and those who have been practicing for years...

Really?

Like the chick said in the article, if people were offended by this... don't ever take your kids to an art museum.

Some folks did a psuedo Venus DiMilo sculpture out of snow and someone called the cops on them.
Really?

Buns...

This is what I resort to when I'm functioning on 2-3 hours of sleep a night. Teeny Princess Leigha buns... and my Planet Terror tee. When I take them down, my hair actually looks pretty decent, wavy, hehe. =)
